What happens when you choose curiosity over certainty? For Cao Yijia ’26, it meant redefining her path again and again. From a national prize winner in computer science to a humanities student, and back to tech at NYU Shanghai, her journey reflects the power of interdisciplinary exploration. Along the way, she founded the Women-in-Computing Committee and even had an original music composition performed by the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra.
