This review further explores various GSR collection methods, from dry to wet techniques, and instrumentation techniques for igsr (inorganic) and ogsr (organic) gunshot residue detection also discusses visual examinations and colour tests for GSR analysis. To overcome limitations of conventional techniques, the review presents the concept of using lanthanoid metal oxide markers for accurate and cost-effective analysis. Integrating highly photoluminescent markers into ammunition offers a strategic tool for tracking illegal or unauthorized firearm use based on specific markers for different gunpowder types. Moreover, the use of readily available and cost-effective luminophores such as pyrene, fluorescein, and Pt-CNN complexes enhances the efficiency of GSR detection. The integration of luminescent markers into forensic routines opens new possibilities for coding and tracking ammunition, simplifying investigation procedures, and enabling in situ analysis without specialized equipment. The potential of these markers in facilitating criminal investigations and advancing forensic science makes them promising tools for future GSR detection and analysis. #forensicscience #nyayalogix #innovationandtech #nfsu
