Last Friday, we looked at the remaining planning documents that complete our Project Management Plan before execution begins. Today, we're creating one of the most overlooked but most important documents. 📌 Quality Management Plan. When people hear "quality," they often think it means building the best product possible. Not necessarily. In project management, "quality means meeting agreed requirements and being fit for purpose." For our Patient Self-Service Portal, success isn't measured by having the most advanced features. Success is delivering a portal that works reliably, is secure, easy to use, and meets stakeholder expectations. Let's look at the PMBOK ITTOs. 📥 INPUTS • Project Charter. • Project Management Plan. • Project Documents. • Enterprise Environmental Factors. • Organizational Process Assets. ⚙️ TOOLS & TECHNIQUES • Expert Judgment. • Data Gathering. • Data Analysis. • Decision Making. • Representation. • Meetings. 📤 OUTPUTS ✅ Quality Management Plan. ✅ Quality Metrics. ✅ Project Management Plan Updates. For our project, our Quality Management Plan includes: 1) Quality Objectives • 99% system uptime. • Zero Critical (Severity 1) defects at go-live. • Average page load time of less than 3 seconds. • Compliance with healthcare privacy and security requirements. • At least 95% of User Acceptance Test (UAT) scenarios passed before deployment. 2) Quality Metrics • System availability. • Defect rate. • Response time. • UAT pass rate. • Patient satisfaction score. 3) Quality Assurance We'll conduct: • Design reviews. • Code reviews. • Process audits. • Sprint reviews. 4) Quality Control We'll perform: • Unit Testing. • Integration Testing. • System Testing. • User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Testing is only one part of quality. If you wait until testing to think about quality, you've waited too long. Quality starts during planning. It continues through design. It's built into development. And it's verified through testing. Tomorrow, we'll create our Resource Management Plan and define the roles, responsibilities, reporting structure, and team needed to successfully deliver our Patient Self-Service Portal. Which has the biggest impact on project quality? A. Clear requirements. B. Skilled project team. C. Thorough testing. D. Continuous reviews. Vote and share your thoughts below.
