๐ ๐๐ผ๐๐ฒ, ๐น๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐น๐ถ๐ณ๐ฒ: ๐๐น๐๐บ๐ป๐ฎ ๐๐ฒ๐น๐น๐ ๐ง๐ฎ๐ป ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ณ๐น๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ ๐ผ๐ป ๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ท๐ผ๐๐ฟ๐ป๐ฒ๐ ๐๐ผ ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ด When her husband, then fiancรฉ, was offered a role in Hong Kong, Kelly Tan โ16 took a leap of faith and left behind a thriving legal career in Singapore to start a new chapter abroad. In 2019, she moved to the city with him and joined Withersโ Litigation & Arbitration team. Her journey wasnโt without its challenges. From navigating unfamiliar court customsโwhere English and Cantonese are used interchangeablyโto juggling a new job while studying for the Hong Kong Bar, Kelly tackled it all with resilience and determination. While reflecting on her professional development, Kelly noted that the globally oriented curriculum laid the foundation for her success. โNUS Law places great emphasis on thinking critically and creatively, which are necessary skills for me to be a successful lawyer in an international firm, where coming up with commercial strategies that achieve the clientโs objectives is integral to my work.โ Now a Senior Associate at Clifford Chance, Kelly works on complex, cross-border disputes, including some of the regionโs largest insolvency matters, such as the liquidation of China Evergrande Group. Her exposure to different legal systems and business practices has expanded her horizons and shaped her perspective as a legal professional.ย She shares,ย โDonโt be afraid to step out of your comfort zone.
