Celebrating a major milestone for home-based childcare globally 🎉 Several organizations — NurtureFirst, SmartStart South Africa, aeioTU, BRAC, OneSky for all children, The National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC), and tiney — have officially launched the Global Home-Based Childcare Alliance at Early Childhood Development Action Network (ECDAN)'s Global Technical Financing Forum in Kigali today. Home-based childcare — paid or unpaid care of children that occurs where a caregiver lives — is the primary care system for most children globally, but it has long been underfunded and overlooked on the global stage. The Global Home-Based Childcare Alliance exists to change that. What makes this coalition distinctive: the voices and lived experiences of providers are central to everything we do. Three of our founding members — SmartStart South Africa, tiney, and the The National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC) — are themselves networks of home-based childcare providers. Our mission is to mobilize finance and advance global policy to elevate home-based childcare for families everywhere.
