This #WorldIPDay, we look at research born in #NTUsg that is being translated into real-world applications through the University's vibrant Innovation and Entrepreneurship ecosystem. ExoArc is a coin-sized chip that can isolate blood plasma in 30 minutes. Developed by biotech firm ArcVance, the device is far faster and more convenient than the current gold-standard, multi-step centrifugation process. NTU scientists validated the chip with clinician-scientists from National Cancer Centre Singapore, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, and A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research), who used the purified blood plasma to diagnose non-small cell lung cancer with high accuracy by analysing the microRNA from both healthy individuals and cancer patients.
