How can households make the most of the latest CDC vouchers amid an uncertain economic outlook? About 1.38 million Singaporean households began receiving S$500 in CDC vouchers on June 11, after the payout was brought forward by six months from January 2027. Speaking to Hongbin Jeong on MONEY FM 89.3's The Big Story, #NTUsg Asst Prof Yeow Hwee CHUA from NTU, Singapore - School of Social Sciences said the vouchers would not cover all household expenses, but could help ease cost-of-living pressures. He added that households could use the vouchers for immediate needs such as food and groceries, while planning their monthly spending carefully, treating it not like extra money but part of their usual budget. While inflation has eased in recent months, Asst Prof Chua said the outlook remains uncertain. Geopolitical tensions and possible disruptions to energy supplies and supply chains could push up energy and product costs again, and that would be a bigger concern.
