Minister for Domestic Manufacturing and Government Procurement, Courtney Houssos, recently visited The Reconnect Project – a NSW based social enterprise that refurbishes mobile devices and creates training and employment opportunities for neurodivergent young people. Social enterprises contribute almost $9 billion to the NSW economy, while delivering jobs, skills and support for people facing barriers to employment. NSW Treasury supports the sector’s growth by embedding social and economic value into government decision making and procurement. This includes through the upcoming Local Jobs First reforms, which improve access to opportunities for verified social enterprises.
