First announced in February 2026, Prof Tan was admitted at a ceremony held on 30 June 2026 at the Royal Society of Medicine in London, alongside fellow Honorary Fellows Dr John Climax and Dr Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw. The AMS honoured the trio for their far-reaching contributions across clinical research, health systems leadership, and biotechnology. A renal physician by training, Prof Tan led Singaporeโ€™s public health response to the 2003 SARS outbreak as Director of Medical Services, before serving as President of the National University of Singapore (NUS) from 2008 to 2017.
