𝗘𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘂𝗴𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗔𝗜-𝗳𝗼𝗿-𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 (𝗔𝗜𝟰𝗦) 𝗜𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 🔬 At the AI4X-Accelerate Conference 2026, Professor Tan Chorh Chuan, Permanent Secretary (National Research and Development), announced the official start of eight inaugural projects under the 𝗔𝗜-𝗳𝗼𝗿-𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 (𝗔𝗜𝟰𝗦) 𝗜𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲, a S$120 million national programme by the National Research Foundation Singapore.   The Initiative harnesses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to accelerate scientific discovery across thematic areas of interest to Singapore. It brings together teams of AI researchers and scientific domain experts from Singapore and top international institutions to develop AI methods and tools that can raise research productivity and accelerate discovery.   A distinctive feature is the co-location of research teams on the CREATE campus, fostering deep collaboration and cultivating a new generation of “bilingual” scientists who are fluent in both AI and their scientific domains.   The eight projects, awarded under the Challenge grant, span thematic areas of strategic interest to Singapore, including advanced manufacturing and materials, biomedical and health sciences, energy and climate resilience, digital trust, and aviation and maritime technologies. Across its Challenge and Catalytic grant schemes, AI4S is expected to support up to 20 teams from leading institutions across five countries: Singapore, the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, and Canada.   The AI4S Initiative advances Singapore’s ambition to be a global hub for world-class research, a key thrust of the S$37 billion #RIE2030 Plan, which sharpens our research efforts on areas that impact society, economy and beyond.
