We are pleased to share a new white paper on "Integrating quantum processing units (QPUs) into data centre infrastructure". As quantum computing looks to deployment models and production systems, both data centre operators and quantum technology providers will have to collaborate on how quantum infrastructure is designed, deployed, and operated. Developed through the Open Compute Project (OCP) Community, this white paper explores the architectural, operational, and integration considerations that will be critical for successfully deploying QPUs within future data centre environments. Read the white paper: https://lnkd.in/gvGz56fb The paper brings together expertise from across the quantum ecosystem, including the NQCC, D-Wave, Dell Technologies, Diraq, Fujitsu, Infleqtion, IonQ, IQM Quantum Computers, Maybell Quantum, ORCA Computing, Oxford Quantum Circuits (OQC), Pasqal, Qblox, Quantum Brilliance, Zero Point Cryogenics, and ZPT Partners This collaborative effort provides practical guidance for data centre operators, infrastructure architects, and IT leaders preparing to deploy, operate, and maintain quantum computing systems at scale. As Dr Jonathan Burnett, Deputy Director for Research at the NQCC and co-lead of the initiative, notes: "The transition of quantum computing from specialised research environments into mainstream data centre infrastructure represents a pivotal step for the industry. This white paper provides a practical foundation for the collaboration between quantum technology providers and data centre operators that will be essential to enabling scalable, reliable quantum computing services in the future." The OCP Community has played a defining role in shaping modern data centres and AI infrastructure. Together, we are now helping to lay the foundations for the quantum data centre era. Thanks to all the organisations and contributors who made this initiative possible, and special thanks to Jonathan Burnett and the fellow co-leads for driving this important work forward.
