At Novelis we continue to take meaningful steps toward a lower-carbon future. The commissioning of our first electric pusher furnace at our Sierre plant in Switzerland marks a key milestone in advancing sustainable aluminum production. By transitioning from natural gas to electricity based on the local Swiss power mix, the new furnace is expected to reduce emissions by approximately 4,500 tonnes CO2eq per year while lowering overall energy consumption by around 25%. This development supports our ambition to achieve carbon-neutral operations and is a core component of our long-term 3x30 decarbonization strategy. The project, which originated from our Net Zero Lab Valais initiative in collaboration with OIKEN, HES-SO Valais-Wallis and EPFL, demonstrates how innovation and strong partnerships can deliver measurable impact at the operational level.
