Why do some lung cancers resist current therapies? In STK11 mutant non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), which accounts for 15-20% of cases, Novartis researchers uncovered a mechanism that dampens responses to immunotherapy. They identified the transcription factor CRTC2 as a key regulator of this resistance. Published in PNAS, this work provides new insight into immune evasion in STK11 mutant NSCLC and highlights a potential novel therapeutic approach for this patient population that remains largely refractory to standard of care treatments. https://lnkd.in/eByNad9x #cancerresearch #oncology
