For many, non-communicable diseases (NCDs) grow quietly, unnoticed, long before complications appear. Awareness and early diagnosis, however, can be a challenge in communities with limited access to healthcare. Without screenings and basic diagnostic support, risks remain hidden and conditions often progress before intervention is possible. To help change this, we brought healthcare closer to these communities through NC-DISHAA, our CSR initiative in partnership with Americares India Foundation. Through mobile medical units that provide screenings, awareness building programs, and ongoing support from Arogya Mitras, people in underserved communities are given the support they need to manage NCDs. Take the story of Shakuntala(name changed), a househelp who was on the verge of losing her livelihood due to severe diabetes. When she was first screened, her blood sugar was dangerously high. But through NC-DISHAA, she found a lifeline. Guided by an Arogya Sakhi and supported by a mobile health van, she didn't just follow her prescribed treatment; she embraced regular exercise and crucial dietary adjustments. Her critical blood sugar dropped to a healthy 114 mg/dl. Today, Shakuntala is back at work - stronger, healthier, and with renewed confidence. Now, multiply her story by thousands. Through this effort, over 240,000 people have been screened over the last 4 years. By understanding their health conditions, people can take proactive steps, adopt healthier routines, and better manage diabetes or hypertension, helping them live fuller, more active lives. The work of NC-DISHAA reminds us that the fight against NCDs is ongoing, but with every screening and every informed step, we move closer to a healthier, more resilient India. #NovartisIndia #NCDISHAA #ReimaginingMedicine #CSR #CorporateSocialResponsbility
