Nurses play a vital role in delivering safe, coordinated and patient‑centred care. We don’t just recognise this, we support and advocate for nurses working to their full scope of practice, including the evolving role of nurse prescribing within collaborative care teams.     The theme this International Nurses Day is 'Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives', which includes empowering their full scope of practice to help prescribe, diagnose and refer patients. This can help improve continuity of care and enhance access for patients, particularly in regional and rural communities.     Great progress has already been made in Australia. Around 250 medicines can be prescribed by nurse practitioners.  There’s always more that we can do to help improve patient experiences, and we will continue to work together with other stakeholders toward this goal.  #IND2026 #OurNursesOurFuture Cancer Nurses Society Of Australia (CNSA)
