As I move from #PythonProgramming into #MachineLearning as the final leg of my #DataScience journey with alx_africa, I’ve been reflecting on how much this process has reshaped the way I think about systems. Coming from a communications and legal background, I initially approached data science from the perspective of interpretation and clarity. But the deeper I move into #analytics, #programming and now machine learning, the more I realise how much understanding depends on the structure beneath the surface. What interests me most is not just the technical capabilities of systems, but also how models, data and decision-making frameworks shape how people understand, evaluate and participate in the world around them. It has also been incredibly valuable in my role as an Assessor for the UCT Social Media Marketing and Copywriting for Digital Marketing online courses. Working through data science concepts has significantly strengthened my evaluation of digital communication, particularly in terms of audience behaviour, platform logic, performance interpretation and the relationship between strategy and measurable outcomes. In most industries, communication is often treated as something layered onto systems at the end. Yet the intersection between systems, understanding and participation is becoming increasingly important in environments where complexity shapes real-world decisions. #DataScience #MachineLearning #Communication #DigitalCommunication #SystemThinking
