👏 Boa Offshore and BrestPort join forces to advance floating offshore wind solutions ⚓ 🏗️🚢We are so excited to share that our proud member ✨ BOA ✨ has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BrestPort to develop innovative and cost-effective methods for launching floating offshore wind turbines from port facilities into open water. This collaboration marks an important milestone in accelerating the deployment of floating offshore wind farms in Brittany, the Atlantic, and beyond, combining BOA’s world-leading maritime and heavy-lift expertise with BrestPort’s strategic position and infrastructure for marine renewable energy. “Developing robust solutions for the launching of floating wind structures is a critical step for the offshore renewable energy industry,” said Christophe Chabert, BrestPort, in a press release. “BOA are proud to support BrestPort in the development of effective and economical solutions for launching of wind turbine foundations and other heavy cargoes,” said Ole T. Bjørnevik, BOA. Adding a broader perspective, Astrid Green, Business Development Manager at Norwegian Offshore Wind, highlights: “France has set ambitious offshore wind targets — 18 GW by 2035 and 45 GW by 2050. Achieving these goals will require close international cooperation. Collaboration between France and Norway is essential, with efficient port operations at the core of building global, reliable supply chains for offshore wind.” This agreement comes on the heels of BOA’s recent successful operations in France, where we proudly contributed to two pioneering projects: 🇫🇷 Eolmed Offshore Wind Project (off Gruissan) – Launching three floating substructures using the BOABARGE 35 and BOA Brage, supporting France’s first commercial-scale floating wind farm in the Mediterranean. 🇫🇷 Provence Grand Large (PGL) Project (off Marseille) – Launching three floating substructures for SBM Offshore, utilizing BOABARGE 36 and BOA Heimdal to ensure safe and efficient deployment. These projects reflect BOA’s strong track record in complex marine operations and our commitment to advancing floating offshore wind through innovation, safety, and precision engineering.
