When extreme weather hits, we look to dams, barriers, and emergency plans. But one of our most effective protective systems rarely makes the headlines: Forests🌲 They quietly stand between us and climate-related risks like landslides and avalanches🏔️ At NMBU, our researchers are proud to contribute knowledge and planning expertise through FORTRESS, a new research project exploring how forests can function as powerful, nature‑based solutions in a changing climate. "Forests provide multiple ecosystem services," says NMBU’s Mina Di Marino . "They regulate temperature, support biodiversity🐾 — and play a crucial role in reducing natural hazards." When we lose forests, we increase vulnerability. When we care for them, we invest in resilience 💚👇 📷 Fjærlandsfjorden, Sogndal by Shutterstock / Joan Vadell
