Understanding how offshore wind infrastructure interacts with marine ecosystems helps us make informed decisions about how we design, operate, and plan projects for the long term. At Nordsee One, we partnered with the Thünen Institute of Sea Fisheries to study marine life around discover reef-like habitats at the turbine foundations. The study showed that turbine surfaces attract species that are usually found on rocky seabeds, providing insight into how offshore wind farms can influence local biodiversity and even create new habitats for fish species.
