The longevity conversation is often dominated by diagnostics, drugs, and optimization. But at Aspen Ideas: Health, one theme came through clearly: the missing layer isn’t what we can measure. It’s what we actually do. That was the focus of "The Longevity Mindset: Why Behavior — Not Biohacking — Will Define the Future of Health," featuring Dr. Jeffrey Egler, our Chief Medical Officer; Dr. David L. Katz, MD, MPH, founder of Diet ID and the True Health Initiative; Dr. Sarah Pressman, Professor of Psychology at UC Irvine; and moderated by Hilary Brueck of Business Insider. A few ideas that stayed with us: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 – 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿. Most people already know the basics: move more, sleep well, eat nourishing foods, manage stress, stay connected. The hard part is turning that knowledge into routines that last. 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝘅𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆. Diagnostics and wearables can be powerful, but only when they help people understand what to do next. Measurement matters most when it is relevant, interpretable, and actionable. 𝗚𝗟𝗣-𝟭𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗮 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗼𝘄, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁. Medication can quiet food noise and create space to build new routines. But lasting change depends on the behaviors and support systems people build while that window is open. 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲. Purpose, optimism, connection, joy, and agency are not “soft” factors. They are part of what helps people stay engaged in their health over time. A few lines that stuck with us: 💬 “Happiness should be a vital sign.” – Dr. Jeffrey Egler 💬 “Health is a currency you can spend on doing the things you want to do longer.” – Dr. David Katz 💬 “Longevity is the presence of the positive – purpose, optimism, joy – not just the absence of what’s wrong.” – Dr. Sarah Pressman You can watch the panel here: https://lnkd.in/g84bPrxZ Grateful to Hilary and our fellow panelists for a sharp, practical conversation — and to everyone who joined us in Aspen. #AspenIdeasHealth #Longevity #GLP1 #Healthspan
