Today we honor Juneteenth — June 19, 1865, the day Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Texas to enforce the Emancipation Proclamation and deliver the news of freedom to enslaved people, marking the end of slavery in the United States. We are proud to continue honoring this day of remembrance, celebration, and joy.
