By integrating AI directly into network design, the system uses real-world ACK (acknowledgment) and NACK (negative acknowledgment) distributions, channel characteristics, and reliability objectives to protect feedback where it matters. Nokia Bell Labs and Qualcomm Technology have teamed up on an AI-based Joint Source-Channel Coding (JSCC) approach for Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) feedback. The result?
