🌱 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐔𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐭! It was an inspiring day discussing energy efficiency in existing data centers. Our Director of Sustainability, Louise Alter, joined a fantastic panel alongside Paul Bernsdorff from ebm-papst neo and Arno Uiterweerd from Unica Datacenters, sharing insights on why nLighten invests in existing data centers and which technical, financial, and operational factors determine the priority of a retrofit project. They also discussed how retrofitting and optimization go hand in hand, the most common initial barriers (capital costs, downtime, ROI uncertainty), and strategies to overcome them. Meanwhile, our colleagues Danny van Galen and Arjan Westerhoff were on-site networking and connecting with industry peers – it was great to see so much collaboration and shared enthusiasm for sustainability in the data center world! At nLighten, we truly believe the biggest sustainability gains come from innovating within existing infrastructure, and it was exciting to share practical solutions that make a real impact on the carbon footprint of legacy data centers.
