In 1916, Lady Florence Norman, a suffragette in London used a motorised scooter known as a Autoped. During WW1 she ran a hospital in France. Along with being named a CBE (an honour also bestowed on her mother), she was awarded the Mons Star, and later became a trustee for the Imperial War Museum.
