𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚’𝐬 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐆𝐫𝐢𝐝 National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) and Grid Controller of India Limited have signed a 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 (𝐌𝐨𝐔) to jointly undertake the landmark research project on “𝐇𝐲𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐝 𝐃𝐚𝐲-𝐀𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚-𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚”. The MoU was formally signed by Prof. Mohammad Rihan, Director General, NISE and Shri Manoj Kumar Agrawal, Executive Director, NLDC, in the august presence of Shri Samir Chandra Saxena, CMD, GRID-India, along with officers from both institutions including Shri Rajiv Porwal, Director (System Operation), Ms. S. Usha, Director (Market Operation), Sh. Vivek Pandey, Chief General Manager, and Dr Anish Malan, Deputy Director, NISE. This collaborative initiative is being implemented in partnership with leading renewable energy developers including Adani Green Energy Ltd., NTPC Green Energy Limited, Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, ReNew, and Serentica Renewables, who will provide access to large utility-scale solar parks for real-time deployment and validation of the forecasting system. The project will develop a next-generation hybrid solar forecasting framework, integrating numerical weather prediction (NWP), satellite data, and real-time All-Sky Imager (ASI) based nowcasting to generate high-frequency probabilistic forecasts (P50/P90) from a few minutes up to 48 hours. This will significantly enhance short-term predictability, reduce Deviation Settlement Mechanism (DSM) risks, and improve scheduling reliability for both developers and system operators. This MoU reflects the visionary leadership of NISE, the Ministry of Power Govt of India (MoP), and GRID-India, and marks an important step towards building indigenous, data-driven, and future-ready capabilities for large-scale renewable energy integration in India. ☀️⚡ Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) #SolarForecasting #GridIntegration #NISE #GRIDIndia #NLDC #RenewableEnergy #EnergyTransition #SolarParks #PowerSystemInnovation #IndiaEnergy
