National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), in collaboration with 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐂𝐒𝐄𝐄), successfully implemented a Solar Fishing Boat Pilot Project to demonstrate the technical feasibility, zero-fuel operation, and livelihood-enhancement potential of 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫-𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐨𝐚𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬. The pilot conclusively demonstrated reliable operational performance under real sea conditions, a substantial reduction in diesel fuel consumption, and zero direct carbon emissions, highlighting the suitability of solar-powered fishing boats for small-scale and artisanal fisheries.
