As a senior engineer at NIRAS, Niels Nørregaard has spent decades working with water supply projects across Denmark and internationally. Today, he is also using that experience as a volunteer with Engineers Without Borders. His assignments have taken him to Tanzania, where a local school and community needed a more reliable water supply, and to Ukraine, where he helped secure clean water and solar energy for a summer camp for children affected by war. The projects are different. The purpose is the same: using engineering skills where they can make a real difference. “Seeing the gratitude and the hope in people’s eyes is far more rewarding than any technical challenge,” Niels says. Niels’ story is a reminder that professional expertise can become something much bigger when it is combined with personal commitment. At NIRAS, we are proud to share stories of people who use their knowledge, experience and passion to help create lasting change. #EngineersWithoutBorders
