Are you a lecturer who would like to bring in class a discussion on new product development (NPD) processes based on Stage-Gate and Agile models? If so, you might want to look at our newly published case study (https://lnkd.in/ds7NXcpH) and teaching note (https://lnkd.in/drQAUt-2) by The Case Centre: Stage-Gate or Agile? Addressing new product development dilemmas at SCM group. Over the past year together with my co-authors Francesco Maria Barbini and Paola Giuri we have been investigating how SCM GROUP has successfully handled the coexistence between Stage-Gate and Agile and started a journey toward an Agile/Stage-Gate hybrid model. We relied on SCM experience to write a case that shows students the importance of structuring different NPD processes within the same organizational context and of developing a decision-making framework to select the right development style for a specific NPD project. The case, that has been developed and tested at Bologna Business School - Università di Bologna, is suitable for executive and MBA courses on innovation management, technology management, and digital transformation, as well as for innovation management courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Thanks to all the company managers who contributed to the case study and to Trevor Williamson for his intriguing workshops and aid in developing the case. #NewProductDevelopment #HybridModels #StageGate #Agile
