Making AI adoption work for businesses using Microsoft 365 | Microsoft MVP | 1M+ YouTube views on AI and tech adoption

Goodbye Copilot Actions! We barely got to know you. It's been announced that Copilot Actions is being removed from Targeted Release and disappear on May 12 (MC1052906). The intent is that its functionality will be replaced by Scheduled Prompts, a feature that currently in an opt-in public preview. The logic of prioritizing one of these approaches makes sense, as there is definitely an intent overlap. I shared a video on this a couple of weeks ago (see the link in the comments). But overall, both of these options had distinct opportunities for improvement, and Copilot Actions definitely had a group of features that would be useful for Scheduled Prompts. However, this is not how feature releases are supposed to work. Targeted Release is generally not viewed as a preview; it is a validation step towards General Availability that allows key users and admins to experience new features coming to release and prepare for their adoption. The guidance to push users from a feature in a release channel to a public preview, is, in my memory, unprecedented. If only one of these two solutions could continue forward, then I think the choice to prioritize Scheduled Prompts makes sense in the long term. However, there's a path ahead if the intent is to integrate many of the capabilities of Copilot Actions into Scheduled Prompts, and a decision to be made around how much of that is to be visible (and modifiable) in Power Automate versus the hidden approach of Copilot Actions. ❓ What do you think?
