A Sound Mind in A Sound Body on A Sound Planet
May 9, 1962: #TheBeatles sign their first recording contract with EMI Music. The year started with the 'Fab Four' auditioning for Decca on JAN 1, signing a management contract with Brian Epstein on JAN 24. Epstein would get 25% of their earnings: in case you are wondering if that was a good deal, think of The Beatles’ 600 million album sales (plus 1.6 billion singles) and do the math! Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, ranked by Rolling Stone magazine as the greatest album of all time, is one of their best-selling albums - with more than 32 million copies sold worldwide as of 2011 - and remains the UK's best-selling studio album. In this picture, #JohnLennon is portrayed at a recording session for the legendary 'concept album' wearing a pair of #adidas sneakers: yes, he used to rock those until he started wearing Stan Smiths more consistently (there's a cute picture with Yoko Ono where he's wearing a pair: I will post it in the comments). Was John the first non-athlete celebrity to wear adidas? I can't be sure, but he might have been the most influential! #HomeTeam #ThisDayInHistory #PermissionToPause #threestripes #sneakers #adidasoriginals
