Meet Mark. After losing both legs in separate accidents, he turned his own experience of trauma into a way of helping others. Now a volunteer at Watford General Hospital, part of West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Mark spends time with patients adjusting to limb loss and other life-changing injuries. He offers encouragement and a friendly face, from someone who truly understands. When Mark lost his second leg in 2018, a fellow patient told him: โ€˜Lad, just get up and do something.โ€™ Six weeks later, he was walking. Today Mark uses that same determination to inspire others in their hardest moments. Thank you to Mark and the thousands of NHS volunteers who give their time to care for patients, families and staff every day ๐Ÿ’™
