On May 22, Yulia Sporysh, director of the NGO Girls, moderated one of the panel discussions “Not an object, but a co-creator of the system: how the Ukrainian voice is rewriting global rules” at the IV Annual Ukrainian Aid Leadership Conference in Kyiv — one of the most influential events in the field of humanitarian response, which brought together representatives of Ukrainian and international organizations, UN agencies, donors, the diplomatic corps, and the public sector. “For me, this event was about Ukraine’s new role in the humanitarian sector. We already have the experience, expertise, and influence to shape global aid policies”, said Yulia Sporysh.   Today, Ukraine’s humanitarian sector is not only responding to the crisis but is also actively shaping new global approaches to partnership, localization, and humanitarian response as part of the evolution of the Grand Bargain. What remains an ambitious goal for many countries is already becoming standard practice in Ukraine. Local organizations are taking the lead, influencing decision-making, shaping new standards of cooperation, and demonstrating that an effective humanitarian system must be built on equal partnership, not hierarchy.
