In May 2026, Daryna Ivchenko (Daryna Ivchenko), Deputy Director for Programs at the NGO Girls, joined the Alliance of Ukrainian CSOs and the partner organization “Mission Kharkiv” on an advocacy trip to London. The highlight of the trip was the GISF Global Security Risk & Policy Conference 2026, where Ukrainian CSOs were among the few local representatives among global security leaders. Such trips are critically important for Ukraine, as a personal presence allows for direct communication of the challenges faced by local organizations, with the aim of transforming these into concrete international solutions and security policies. During the event, the Ukrainian delegation actively presented its unique experience of working in wartime conditions and advocated for strengthening Duty of Care approaches for humanitarian workers. Together with our partners, we have already developed a minimum safety package that includes psychological support, insurance, training, first-aid kits, and basic protection, which is already being implemented by a number of donors. However, the realities of full-scale war require an expansion of these standards, which is why we emphasized the urgent need to provide units with armored vehicles, electronic warfare equipment, and modern personal protective equipment. Our expertise should serve as the foundation for updating global security protocols. Additionally, during our meeting with the Humanitarian Leadership Academy, we discussed opportunities to support the Ukrainian sector through the training ecosystem. We sincerely thank the Director of the Las Casas Institute for Social Justice Hugo Slim (Hugo Slim), the organizers and our colleagues for the opportunity to attend such an important event and contribute to shaping the global security agenda.
