In light of International Women’s Day, we’re proud to celebrate Shaleigh Lennox, ESM, Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager, who has been awarded the 2026 Newcastle Woman of the Year. 🎉 For more than 40 years, Shaleigh has dedicated her time to supporting local organisations and strengthening our community. She contributed over 600 hours of volunteer service in 2025 alone. Shaleigh has been part of Cooks Hill Surf Life Saving Club since 1985, starting as a nipper then becoming the club’s first female Life Member. As a Duty Officer, she supports Hunter Surf Life Saving’s emergency response, including assisting during the 2025 Mid North Coast floods. ❤️💛 Her commitment to emergency services was recognised at the 2025 King’s Birthday Honours, where she was awarded the Emergency Services Medal. Shaleigh has also been actively involved with the Country Women's Association (CWA) for more than a decade, raising $35,000 for local charities in the past 12 months. 🗨️ “Community, to me, is about people looking out for each other…Whether it’s in the community or here at work, it comes back to the same thing, caring about people.” Congratulations, Shaleigh, and thank you for the incredible impact you continue to make in our community. 🫶
