James S. Turley is an American business executive who was chairman & CEO of Ernst & Young from 2001-2013. He currently is the Nat’l Chairman of the Boy Scouts of America. He received a BA & MA in Accounting from Rice Univ & joined Ernst & Young in 1977 at the Houston office as chairman & CEO from July 2001- June 2013. He is on the BOD of Citigroup, Emerson Electric, Intrexon, Northrop Grumman Corp, Boy Scouts of America, Catalyst, the Nat’l Corp Theater Fund & on the BOD of trustees of his alma mater, Rice Univ. He is a member of the Business Roundtable, Int’l Busi Leaders' Advisory Council for the Mayor of Shanghai & Transatlantic Business Dialogue. He was the chair of the governing board of the U.S. Center for Audit Quality in 2007–2011. In 2010, he was appointed by Barack Obama to the President's Export Council. Turley is married to Lynne Pounds & together they have 1 adult son. Upon Turley's retirement, Rice Univ’s Jones School announced the launch of the James S. Turley-Ernst & Young Leadership Dev Initiative for accounting education.
