Two cables can do the same job and leave very different carbon footprints. Until recently, almost no buyer could see the difference. Environmental data on cables has been inconsistent, self-declared, or simply missing. The Low-Carbon program is built on the opposite principle. 70% of Nexans cable sales in Europe and North America now come with PEP or EPD declarations, each Life Cycle Assessment verified by an independent third party. Not a marketing claim, but a transparent sharing of environmental impact and the optimisation measures implemented. Here is what the data makes obvious. Metal conductors account for 70 to 90% of a cable's cradle-to-gate footprint, so recycled metal is by far the strongest lever to pull. That is where our commitment goes. 25% recycled copper in our low-carbon cables globally by 2028. Four indicators make it readable at a glance on every product page: 📝Product description: the PEP reference for the range 🌱Global carbon footprint: CO2 equivalent per km of cable, cradle-to-gate 📊 Reduction indicators: recycled metals, recycled plastics, aluminium origin 🔎 Additional information: manufacturing site and specific commitments Measurable. Verifiable. Comparable across Nexans products #LowCarbon #Sustainability #Electrification #Nexans
