A world's first: together with Epsilon Composite, we've completed the first field validation of CORECHECK, on TenneT's 380 kV network in the Netherlands. The technology lets utilities verify the structural integrity of composite-core overhead conductors throughout transport, installation and commissioning, something there was no practical, reliable field method to do until now. As European grids come under pressure from renewable generation, electrification and growing demand, utilities are turning to advanced composite-core conductors to maximise transmission capacity. On this project, TenneT is deploying High Temperature Low Sag conductors, including our HVCRC, to upgrade existing lines and add capacity without significant new infrastructure. CORECHECK detects internal defects in the composite core with a breakdown voltage test. A single technician can complete it in about 5 minutes per conductor, without disrupting the installation schedule. On the TenneT project, integrity was verified at every key stage, from core manufacturing to installation, and under strong winds, dense fog, heavy rain and sub-zero temperatures. It also delivers full traceability: operator, conductor batch and measurement results recorded for every test. A comprehensive quality record for utilities and contractors on critical transmission projects. A technical paper on the project and field validation results will be presented at CIGRE Paris 2026. 🎥 Video courtesy of Epsilon Composite #Electrification #GridModernization #EnergyTransition #Innovation
