“Do not wait for job postings. Get into your university's entrepreneurship ecosystem early,” says Gagana Venkatampalli (NYU Tandon School of Engineering ’27), who landed her internship with the eco-manufacturing startup RenewCO₂ through the NYU Tandon Future Labs Technology Entrepreneurship Experience program. “Programs like TEEx connect you with companies that are building something real before those opportunities ever go public.” Using a process called eCUT (electrocatalytic carbon utilization technology), RenewCO₂ converts waste carbon dioxide into widely used chemicals and fuels. It’s led by scientists with PhDs and backed by the National Science Foundation and the US Department of Energy, among other partners. “The idea of converting CO₂ from a problem into a resource through breakthrough chemistry and engineering is exactly the kind of audacious, important work I want to be part of,” Gagana says.
