NewYork-Presbyterian is proud to support The People's Theatre, a nonprofit based in Washington Heights and Inwood dedicated to making theatre with and for immigrant communities. Since 2010, #NYP has helped fund scholarships for students to attend The Academy for Theatre, Leadership & Advocacy, and helped fund free, immersive theatre programs at I.S. 173 and the Washington Heights Expeditionary Learning School. With the hospital’s support, The People’s Theatre has also expanded its staffing and is nearing completion on The People’s Theatre: Centro Cultural Inmigrante, the city’s first cultural center dedicated to the immigrant experience and the largest Latino theatre in New York State.
