Some companies carry more than products. They carry history, craftsmanship and an entire community with them. Founded in 1895, Grythyttan Stålmöbler has been manufacturing its furniture in Grythyttan, Sweden for more than 130 years. In a time when so much production has moved abroad, that is something truly remarkable. The iconic A2 chair, first shown in 1930, is still produced today and has become a true classic in Swedish design history. What also makes Grythyttan special is the place itself, a small community of fewer than 1,000 inhabitants, surrounded by forests, lakes and a long industrial heritage. Last week, Dagens industri highlighted Karl Lindqvist, and indirect also he local community, and as so many times before, the timeless A2 chair naturally took center stage. Thank you Astrid Nyblom for shining a light on these type of companies, they both inspire and matter. The article can be found here👇:
