4 mei is de Nationale Herdenking in Nederland. We herdenken dan alle slachtoffers van oorlogen en vredesoperaties sinds WOII. In Korea staat de Nederlandse ambassade stil bij de slachtoffers met een kleine ceremonie bij het monument voor de Nederlandse deelname in de Koreaanse Oorlog (1950-1953), in Heong Seong. Ambassadeur Joanne Doornewaard legde daar een krans. Vanwege COVID-19 deed zij dat dit jaar alleen. Nederland herdenkt op 4 mei al haar oorlogsslachtoffers, ook die vielen tijdens de Koreaanse Oorlog. Alle slachtoffers verdienen ons respect en onze dankbaarheid. May 4 is Remembrance Day in the Netherlands. On this day the Netherlands commemorates all its victims of wars and peacekeeping operations since World War II (1940-1945). In Korea, the embassy of the Netherlands observes Remembrance Day with a small ceremony at the monument for the participation of the Netherlands in the Korean War (1950-1953), in Heong Seong. Due to COVID-19, this year only the ambassador, HE Joanne Doornewaard, paid her respects by visiting the monument and laying down a wreath. The Netherlands hereby commemorates all victims of war since WWII, including those in the Korean War.
