đ± Unlocking higher yields in coffee â New research led by the NestlĂ© Institute of Agricultural Sciences, in collaboration with the Centre National de Recherche Agronomique (CNRA) in CĂŽte dâIvoire, has demonstrated how a carefully selected mix of coffee varieties can deliver meaningful benefits for farmers and consumers. CĂŽte dâIvoire is one of Africaâs key coffeeâproducing countries. This multiâyear research project found that planting a mix of six robusta varieties can increase yields by up to 86%, using the same inputs, while also improving cup quality. Coffee made from this robusta mix has a smoother flavor, with less bitterness and fewer woody notes. Why this research matters: - Coffee farmers are increasingly exposed to climate variability - Higherâyielding, climateâresilient coffee varieties help strengthen farmer livelihoods - This work helps ensure the future supply of coffee â The sixâvariety mix will be made available to farmers through cooperatives under the NescafĂ© Plan, helping translate locally grounded, scienceâbased research into realâworld impact. đ Read more: https://lnkd.in/eEfzTsJs #NestleRD #PlantScience #CoffeeResearch #ClimateResilience
