đŸŒ± Unlocking higher yields in coffee ☕ New research led by the NestlĂ© Institute of Agricultural Sciences, in collaboration with the Centre National de Recherche Agronomique (CNRA) in CĂŽte d’Ivoire, has demonstrated how a carefully selected mix of coffee varieties can deliver meaningful benefits for farmers and consumers. CĂŽte d’Ivoire is one of Africa’s key coffee‑producing countries. This multi‑year research project found that planting a mix of six robusta varieties can increase yields by up to 86%, using the same inputs, while also improving cup quality. Coffee made from this robusta mix has a smoother flavor, with less bitterness and fewer woody notes. Why this research matters: - Coffee farmers are increasingly exposed to climate variability - Higher‑yielding, climate‑resilient coffee varieties help strengthen farmer livelihoods - This work helps ensure the future supply of coffee ✅ The six‑variety mix will be made available to farmers through cooperatives under the NescafĂ© Plan, helping translate locally grounded, science‑based research into real‑world impact. 🔗 Read more: https://lnkd.in/eEfzTsJs #NestleRD #PlantScience #CoffeeResearch #ClimateResilience
