🔬 Research on Potato Cyst Nematode #PCN Resistance Across Western Europe 🌍 📝 We’re excited to share a major scientific advance in our understanding of how the potato cyst nematode #GloboderaPallida overcomes resistance in #potato crops 🥔In a recent preprint by #NEMEMERGE researchers, it was found that populations of G. pallida that can break major potato resistance all share the same genetic adaptation 🧬 📊 By analysing 13 nematode populations, the team identified a #gene variant linked to virulence and developed a PCR-based #test to detect it directly in field samples⚙️ This tool enables #farmers and #breeders to estimate the potential damage of a nematode population before planting resistant varieties, helping them to make more informed decisions.
