Stories have the power to help children see themselves and one another with empathy and dignity. As we continue to celebrate Youth Month, this month’s Making Reading Fun welcomed children and their parents to the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory for a morning of storytelling, learning and fun. We began the day with a guided tour of Nelson Mandela's permanent exhibition, giving our young visitors the opportunity to engage with Madiba's life and legacy before gathering for story time. Following International Albinism Awareness Day, we were honoured to welcome author, model and award-winning actress, Refilwe Modiselle, who shared Zizi’s World: Through Her Vanilla Eyes. Through Zizi’s story, children explored inclusion, representation and the importance of celebrating difference. Our much-loved Auntie Mathabo also continued our reading journey with the children’s adaptation of Long Walk to Freedom. Thank you to Refilwe, Auntie Mathabo, our young readers and their families for making the morning so special. We look forward to welcoming you to our next Making Reading Fun session during #MandelaMonth this July. #YouthMonth #MakingReadingFun #InternationalAlbinismAwarenessDay # MakingGoodTrouble
