We recently hosted an insightful talk by Prof. Dr. Steffen Eger and Christian Greisinger from the University of Technology Nuremberg on advances in multimodal scientific content generation. They explored datasets and modelling approaches for generating scientific figures from captions, textual descriptions, and sketches using TikZ as a coding language, and presented ongoing work on automated figure editing and multi-language generation (e.g. Python, TikZ) for more adequate content generation. The talk highlighted key challenges and opportunities, as well as the potential of these approaches to enable efficient, high-quality, and more inclusive scientific content creation.
