For decades, researchers across Greece documented local dialects, expressions and linguistic traditions, creating an archive of millions of records. Through the D-AI-LECT project, researchers from NCSR Demokritos, the Academy of Athens and Athena Research Center are using AI to convert this material into searchable, structured data that can support future language technologies and research. The project also trains people with disabilities as AI annotators through the support of SciFY - Science For You, combining technological innovation with social impact. As Greece prepares for the next chapter of AI through initiatives such as the PHAROS AI Factory, projects like D-AI-LECT help ensure that the Greek language remains part of that future.
