Easter, set against the renewal of nature in spring, becomes a catalyst for deeper reflection. It has a way of opening space for bigger questions - a good moment, then, to spend time with the new issue of BIOETHICA. BIOETHICA is an open-access electronic journal published by the National Commission of Bioethics and Technoethics in collaboration with the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications at NCSR "Demokritos". Now in its 12th volume, this issue arrives with a refreshed visual identity and with questions that feel increasingly urgent. The editorial by Evangelos Protopapadakis opens with AI, griefbots, and possible worlds and closes, fittingly, with the phrase once used to mark uncharted waters: "Hic sunt dracones", meaning here be dragons. A reminder that ethics must remain our compass, ensuring that innovation benefits society as a whole without compromising individual rights or social equity. The issue also covers: ☛ Human germline genome editing and European criminal law  by Alessandro Buoncompagni ☛ AI in medicine and the black box dilemma by Markus Meserth ☛ Biobanks, personalised medicine, and AI - legal and ethical perspectives by Karl-Philippe Bretel ☛ Ethical issues in biobank development in Greece by Yulie Foka-Kavalieraki & Katerina Vlantoni Behind this issue, a dedicated team from our Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications at NCSR Demokritos (IIT) deserves special recognition: Vasiliki Mollaki (Editorial Board - Researcher at IIT and Ethics Expert at the European Commission), Fay Pitsilidou (Journal Manager - Head of Communications of IIT ), and Yota Sotiropoulou (Graphic Designer). Their work keeps this space for dialogue alive and growing.
