Last week, NBC4 Washington and Telemundo 44 Washington, D.C., part of NBCUniversal Local, were honored at the 2026 National Association of Broadcasters Leadership Foundation Celebration of Service to America Awards, which recognize excellence in community service by local broadcasters. The stations’ Food 4 Families campaign, a year-round initiative raises awareness about food insecurity and connects families with trusted resources through community partnerships and bilingual storytelling, was recognized as a finalist. In 2025, Food 4 Families generated nearly $80,000, helping provide more than 116,000 meals across the region, with donations up 58% year over year.
