After exploration and geological studies are completed, one of the most critical decisions for a successful mining operation is selecting the right equipment for the right application. In this presentation, I have shared my perspective on how mining equipment selection should be based on: Geological and rock conditions Underground or surface mining methods Production targets and mine life Equipment reliability and availability Maintenance strategy and downtime reduction Spare parts support and total cost of ownership The best machine is not always the most expensive or the most popular brand. The best equipment is the one that delivers maximum productivity, high availability, safety, and long-term value for the mine. With over 10 years of experience in underground mining and tunneling equipment maintenance, working with various fleets including Sandvik, Epiroc, Caterpillar, Komatsu, Normet, and other heavy mining equipment, I believe proper equipment selection combined with a strong maintenance strategy is the key to achieving operational excellence.
