For many people, receiving pocket money from chores was their first experience of earning money. Our latest NatWest Rooster Money Pocket Money Index shows that for kids today, those everyday ways of earning are still going strong - with the most rewarding opportunities often found in the ‘great out-chores’. Our 10th annual Pocket Money Index, based on the earning, saving and spending habits of over half a million Rooster Card users across the UK, found: 💷Children now earn £9.74 per week on average (+6.7% year-on-year) 🧽Outdoor tasks lead the way, with mowing the lawn and car washing amongst the highest-paid ✈️Saving habits are evolving too, with holidays and travel now the top goal ahead of gaming Those early experiences of earning - whether indoors or out - play an important role in building confidence and money skills over time.
